Denise Smith, Manager, Volunteer Services

Call for Volunteer Instructors

Share your knowledge, expertise and passion.

The LIFE Institute has grown from a small community of a few hundred in 1991 to a membership of almost 2500 today. We strive to provide a high-quality learning, socializing and contributing environment for our members.

We are looking for volunteers like you!

We need Volunteers who want to use their passion and skills to facilitate a subject or who would like to share their expertise with our members. You may also want to continue to use your experience running workshops or courses. This is a chance for you to share your knowledge on a wide variety of subjects in the Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Technology and Contemporary Issues.

Volunteers Instructors can develop their course including research, providing reading materials, presentation, and delivery. LIFE courses are diverse and can be delivered in a variety of formats, Lecture with some Q&A, Lecture with some discussion, Discussion (facilitated course), Interactive/hands-on (such as painting, memoir writing, etc.) and courses can include guest speakers.

We are looking for individuals with an interest in sharing their enthusiasm for their field of excellence with older adults.

To assist you, we have available an Instructor Coaching and Mentoring Program which is free for anyone looking to improve their present instructor skill sets.

Interested instructors are asked to submit a maximum two-paragraph outline of a prospective course and a short biography.

Does this sound interesting, have any questions or are you ready to get volunteering?

Then contact Denise Smith, Manager, Volunteer Services at The LIFE Institute by email at or by phone at (416) 979-5000 ext. 543612.

Thank you.
